The LA Union Station initiative was driven by the need to develop a scalable, campus-wide digital model to support long-term asset management, capital planning, and operations. While the original RFP called for a BIM of the campus, ARC recognized that meeting the Owner’s broader objectives required more than a standalone model. ARC recommended developing a strategic Digital Twin Road Map alongside a pilot project to refine stakeholder requirements, define standards, and evaluate spatial data platforms. The historic ticketing concourse was selected as the pilot environment. Through this effort, ARC established its BAM® (Base Asset Model) and SAM® (Systems Asset Model) frameworks, creating a structured foundation now guiding the continued expansion of a campus-scale digital twin across Union Station.
